Active Fire

Sprinklers & Sprinkler Pumps

Automatic sprinkler systems offer dependable, cost-effective fire protection, commonly installed in tall buildings or high-risk environments. Where mains water pressure is insufficient, pumps (electric or diesel) are used to meet flow requirements.

Sprinklers require servicing every six months as a minimum. Quarterly checks may be needed for monitored systems, insurance compliance or SFG20 adherence.

Gas Suppression

A waterless fire protection method that uses a gaseous agent to extinguish fires, ideal for protecting sensitive environments like data centres, server rooms, and archives.

The system works by detecting a fire and rapidly releasing a gas to smother the flames by removing oxygen, cooling the fire, or disrupting the chemical reaction, without leaving residue.

Kitchen Fire Suppression

This is an ANSUL automatic, pre-engineered kitchen fire suppression system designed to detect and extinguish fires in commercial cooking areas. It releases a wet chemical agent that cools flames and forms a foam blanket to prevent re-ignition. These systems are installed in the kitchens of restaurants, hospitals, and other facilities, and typically consist of a detection line, agent storage cylinder, discharge pipework, and a manual release.

When a fire starts, the system automatically discharges the agent and can also be linked to shut off gas and electricity to the cooking appliances.

Fire Extinguishers

Portable fire extinguishers are vital for safe evacuation and are strategically placed along escape routes and exit points. Special risk variants are available for environments like kitchens.

EDSB supplies, installs and maintains these extinguishers. Annual servicing is required.

Wet & Dry Risers

Risers are essential in multi-storey buildings, giving the fire service access to water throughout the structure. Dry risers are empty until needed; wet risers are constantly pressurised.

EDSB offers installation and ongoing maintenance for both systems.

Hose Reels & Fire Hydrants

Hose reels cover larger areas than extinguishers and are typically mains-connected. Hydrants are installed on large or remote premises to give emergency services reliable water access.

Hose reels require annual servicing, with full pressure testing every five years. Hydrants should be visually inspected every six months and undergo full testing annually.

EVAC Chairs

Evacuation Chairs designed for safely evacuating mobility-impaired individuals down staircases during an emergency. These foldable chairs are a key part of inclusive evacuation planning.

EDSB supplies and maintains these products. Annual inspections are recommended.

Smoke Vents

Smoke Ventilation systems help remove smoke during a fire and may also be integrated with a building management system for ventilation or temperature control.

Servicing is recommended every six months.

Room Integrity Testing

Essential for rooms protected by gaseous suppression systems, Room Integrity Tests (RIT) check whether the room can retain the gas long enough to extinguish a fire effectively.

EDSB conducts these tests and any necessary sealing works. Tests should be carried out annually or after any structural changes.
