Supporting Grassroots Football: Horsforth Lightning U14’s Girls

EDSB Compliance Solutions is proud to sponsor the Horsforth Lightning, a new grassroots all-girls football team based in Leeds. This exciting partnership once again underscores our commitment to supporting local communities. Formed in 2022, this team came together through a number of young girls who knew each other socially and wanted to play a team sport after numerous years of participating in different activities such as dancing and gymnastics, alongside the inspiration of the Lioness’.

Head of Water Hygiene and Treatment, Dean Buckler, who is a father to one of the players and also a dedicated coach mentions, “This will be the 3rd season for Lightning, who have gelled as a team and managed to improve their league finish year on year. Last season they improved on 6th position and came 4th. Although playing football has helped them stay fit, the girls have benefited tremendously from the social aspect of being in a team.” EDSB pledged to help provide the team with new kits for the upcoming season, as the players have used the same kits for two seasons running.

Since joining EDSB, Dean has significantly enhanced the Water Hygiene department, introducing innovative services such as chemical-free closed system treatments, chlorine dioxide dosing systems, chemical provision and softener servicing. The spirit of teamwork that Dean encourages within his professional team is mirrored in his coaching approach for the girls’ football team, emphasising collaboration and collective success.

Dean explains his expectations for this season, “We have managed to keep the same squad for a 3rd season which is unusual but shows how much the girls enjoy playing and being a part of a team. Friendships have been made and we want to encourage the girls to stay playing for another season to hopefully improve on the finishing position in the table.”
